Good morning to all. Dennis (that's me) has finally figured out how to access and post.
Friday surgery went as scheduled, lasting less than 4 hours. The neurosurgeon said no fluid leaked out of the brain (something about a bone has to be removed during this type of operation.) The ENT stated that tissue on the right side indicated some residual cancer, but that was taken out. He did not scrape the left side, so Karen should have sense of smell on that side, but only time will tell. It will be awhile before that is known, due to swelling, etc. Prognosis is good.
She had a rough night with upset stomach and headache. She is allergic to many pain killers, so they are still trying to find one to relieve pain and not upset her stomach.
I spent some time with her yesterday evening. I walked in and she promptly barfed. I spent some time with her this morning. I walked in and she promptly barfed. If this continues, I could get a complex. Of course, she was so out of it yesterday that she could not remember I was there. She did perk up this morning and open her eyes wide when I informed her that during surgery yesterday, I redesigned the vegetable garden and work starts in October. I knew that would get her out of a drug induced stupor and put her on the road to recovery.
She is in ICU and may get moved to a normal room later today.
More updates as events occur.
And a big thanks to all who have been praying.

Praise God. Our prays will continue for both of you..Rod and Cheryl
Huge sigh of relief that all is going well! I'm surprised they are not giving her phenergan (sp?) for the barfing. When one has brian surgery (or smilar like Karen's)they do not want you to barf because of sudden head movement. Are they giving her any type of steroids? How are YOU holding up?...Sending lots of love, prayers and good healing vibes! Kris
Praise God for so far what sounds like a good outcome!! I can totally relate to the barfing from pain meds thing...I cannot take Morphine for that reason - massive headaches & barfing...must be a family thing. They had to give me shots of something to keep me from barfing the whole time...tho I'm sorry I do not know what that was....but it worked.
Also...Percocet, Demerol & Darvocet were my drugs of choice for past surgeries/pain meds with no ill side affects....but again....generally accompanied with a shot of anti-nausea something.
Please let Karen know (when she is coherent) that I'm asking about and praying for her.
Love to you both, K3
